The 28th Annual Somers Point Beach Concert Series is underway after a year’s absence.
Shows are on Friday nights starting at 7 p.m. at the Atlantic County venue.
The series has already begun, but there is still plenty of world-class shows to be held as the series runs until Sept. 17 when Fabulous Thunderbirds founder Kim Wilson (harmonica great) takes the stage.
To give you an idea of how well-rounded this series is, it includes a rock and roll icon (Gary U.S.Bonds), a two-time grammy-award winner (Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Experience), another grammy winner (Jack Eckert), a rock and roll Hall of Famer (Paul Nelson), local legend Billy Walton who is bringing along guitarist Anthony Krizan from the Spin Doctors ... and much more.
This is one of the most scenic sites on the summer circuit and the the entertainment is first class. Action takes place right on the beach.
An excerpt from the series website states:
The Diverse And Phenomenal Entertainment includes many international recording artists as well as the very best regional performers performing a variety of musical genres from Country, Classic and Jam Rock, Blues, Soul, Jazz, Swing and as a savory taste of New Orleans' Rhythm and Blues Gumbo.
The Setting Is Beautiful with the stage very close to the water line on Somers Point's lovely, little municipal beach. When the weather is nice, the pastel hues of the sunset and the glimmers on the bay looking across to Ocean City's lights make it a magical venue for the world class entertainment presented.
Hope to see you at a show.
