Blues People

Linden Summer Series

The Blues People is a four-man band of well-seasoned blues players who formed around the time of the pandemic. They burst on to the local scene, making their name well known in their area of North Jersey from their electrifying live performances.

After recording a debut album called 'The Skin I'm in' in 2024, the boys took off and haven't looked back. Since that time, they have been nominated for Best New Artist and Best Debut Album awards by Blues Blast Magazine. The record has appeared in the top 40 of several blues charts since the album’s release. The band has twice won the North Jersey Blues Society competition and earned a trip to Memphis to compete in the International Blues Challenge where they advanced to the semifinals in 2024 and '25.

The band has since branched out to the entire state of New Jersey and booked a date at the famed Iridium in New York City in July.

Bassist Mike Griot runs the show and  its a tight one. Kelton Cooper is as good as it gets on lead guitar, while keyboardist Ron Thompson and drummer Gene Lake add just the right amount of soul.

You can catch them live and for free here at Linden's summer series. Before that you can catch them on Saturday, Aug. 16 at the Morristown Jazz and Blues Festival. The boys will come on at 4 and will be one of the warmups for Samantha Fish, who comes on at 8.

You have to hear them to believe them.
